The Super Mario Galaxy Movie Teaser Debuts, Revealing Rosalina and Bowser Jr. Actors

Nintendo alongside Illumination shared the first full-length trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie midweek. The reveal happened in a special Nintendo Direct that centered on the soon-to-release cartoon movie.

Following up on the 2023 hit film The Super Mario Bros. Movie, this latest chapter will propel Mario to the far corners of the galaxy. In his journey, he meets a fresh princess character and a challenging new adversary in Bowser Jr., the son of the King of the Koopas.

A Space-Faring Quest Based on Iconic Releases

In the vein of the Wii console classics that serve as its inspiration, Mario will leave behind the cozy environment of the Mushroom Kingdom to journey through the cosmos. During his grand adventure, he will meet again some recognizable characters, including the Luma, a fan favorite from the previous film.

But it appears Mario and his brother Luigi will battle a different foe in the form of Bowser's irate young son, who apparently utilizes powers related to metal. Interestingly, the teaser for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is not solely focused on Galaxy-themed scenes; it also includes nods to other beloved games like Super Mario Odyssey and Bowser's Fury.

All-Star Vocal Ensemble Reprise Roles and Welcome Newcomers

The film will welcome back of the primary vocal talent, with Chris Pratt as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy as Peach, Charlie Day as Luigi, Jack Black as Bowser, Keegan-Michael Key as Toad, and Kevin Michael Richardson as Kamek.

Joining the cast for The Super Mario Galaxy Movie are Brie Larson, who will bring to life Rosalina, and Benny Safdie, set to play Bowser Jr. This was confirmed by Illumination CEO Chris Meledandri.

Mario's Major Moment

The upcoming Mario film is scheduled to arrive around the time of the 40-year celebration of the original Super Mario Bros. game. Apart from the cinematic release, 2026 is shaping up to be a significant year for Mario and his allies.

Nintendo confirmed a trio of new releases publicly declared for 2026, such as Mario Tennis Fever, a Switch 2 edition of Super Mario Bros. Wonder, and a fresh Yoshi side-scroller titled Yoshi and the Mysterious Book.

Launch Date Set

The Super Mario Galaxy Movie is officially set to be released on April 3, 2026.
